All our Physiotherapists are Chartered and expert in the provision of general physiotherapy services in the areas of Musculoskeletal, Sports Injury, Orthopaedic, Rheumatological, Respiratory, and Neurological Disorders in both children and adults. In addition, our Physiotherapists have developed higher levels of expertise in certain areas of more specialist clinical interest as a result of experience and undertaking further study.
Neasa Long
Neasa qualified from University College Dublin with a B.Sc (Hons) Degree in Physiotherapy. In the earlier years of her work, she gained a broad range of experience working in various physiotherapy clinical settings. She worked in the areas of neurological rehabilitation and musculoskeletal therapy in Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, Dublin and later in the Bon Secours Hospital, Cork. In the Bon Secours Hospital, she also worked in the maternity department in the areas of obstetric and gynaecological care of patients, pre-and post-partum as well as in the treatment and management of mother and child with obstetric injuries.
In 1997, Neasa set up ‘Neasa Long Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic’. During the course of her daily work, she is involved with treatment of spinal, musculoskeletal and neurological disorders as well as in matters relating to pelvic health and continence. She has completed post-graduate courses in Manipulative Therapy and with the McKenzie Institute, UK in the treatment of mechanical disorders and discal derangement of the spine. As part of her work, she also provides consultancy physiotherapy, specialising in physiotherapy report writing and expert witness evidence to the Courts in cases resulting from neurological and musculoskeletal impairment as well as in matters relating to gynaecological and obstetric injuries. She is a member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and the associated Clinical Groups of Neurology, Gerontology and Pelvic Health and Continence. She is also a member of the professional regulatory body CORU.
Rachel Ormond
Rachel completed her undergraduate training in Trinity College Dublin and graduated with a B.Sc (Hons) Degree in Physiotherapy. She then developed a strong interest in Cerebral Palsy and neurological rehabilitation at Cope Foundation Cork and Cork University Hospital (C.U.H.). This led to her appointment as Senior Physiotherapist in Care of the Elderly and Neurological Rehabilitation at C.U.H. She subsequently moved into private practice and has gained considerable experience in the management of musculoskeletal injuries and neurological disorders. Her postgraduate training and continuing professional development profile includes completion of the Bobath Neurodevelopmental Therapy modules and courses relating to the management of spinal and peripheral musculoskeletal disorders. She is qualified as both a licensed Myofascial Trigger Point Dry Needling clinician and as a certified Kinesio Taping Technique practitioner. She also provides consultancy physiotherapy specialising in physiotherapy report writing and expert witness evidence to the Courts in personal injury cases resulting in neurological impairment and intellectual disability. She is a member of the Clinical Interest Groups for Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology and Gerontology (CPNG) and also Intellectual Disability (CPID).
Barbara Downes
Barbara obtained her B.Sc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree from U.C.D. After qualification, she worked in general and orthopaedic hospitals in Ireland before moving to Australia. There, she furthered her experience in general physiotherapy practice in university teaching hospitals and gained considerable expertise in manual musculoskeletal physiotherapy in private practice over a number of years. Since returning to Ireland, Barbara has worked exclusively in private practice. As part of her commitment to continuing professional development, she has undertaken numerous postgraduate course, particularly in her specialist areas of musculoskeletal disorders and sports injuries. Recently, she became a certified practitioner of the Kinesio Taping Technique. She has always enjoyed providing physiotherapy both on and off the field of play and she continues to work regularly with Gaelic Football, Camogie and Soccer teams in particular. The vast clinical experience she has acquired has equipped her with a wide range of skills to accurately assess and diagnose the cause of pain or dysfunction and successfully implement the appropriate treatment and rehabilitation strategies.
Conor Moore
Conor completed his Masters of Physiotherapy at University of Limerick. He has worked in hospital environments at University Hospital Limerick and Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise, managing stroke patients, patients with neurological deficits and patients with various respiratory and pulmonary conditions. Conor progressed to working at the UPMC Sports Medicine Clinic at the Mardyke Arena in Cork, as part of a physiotherapy team treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal, spinal and sports related injuries and providing a specialist rehabilitation service to recovering patients of all ages. Conor has developed a special interest and experience in assessing musculoskeletal disorders and sports injuries, being involved with athletes at club, county and national level.
When not working, Conor has a strong interest in health, fitness and nutrition. He is a committed Gaelic Footballer, a dedicated Kerry football supporter and enjoys following Munster and Ireland Rugby.
Veronica Iskander
Veronica completed her undergraduate training in science with a minor in psychology at McMaster University in Canada and was a Physiotherapy Assistant for two years before going on to complete her Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Limerick.
Prior to entering private practice, she gained experience working with specialised populations, such as patients with cystic fibrosis and various pulmonary conditions. In addition to this she worked extensively in Care of the Elderly to promote the role of physiotherapy in the management of delirium and implementing falls prevention programmes.
Since moving into Private Practice, Veronica has gained experience in the management of musculoskeletal disorders and sports injuries. She has developed a strong interest in exercise prescription and the development of strength and conditioning programmes in sports rehabilitation and injury prevention. Veronica is dedicated to providing a patient-centred approach to physiotherapy care with a combination of manual therapy, lifestyle advice, education and exercise prescription.
Meghan Kelly
Meghan completed her undergraduate training at The Royal College of Surgeons Dublin and graduated with a B.Sc (Hons) Degree in Physiotherapy. She also holds a B.Sc Degree in Anatomy.
She moved into private practice and has gained considerable experience in the management of musculoskeletal disorders and sports injury rehabilitation.
Meghan’s continuing professional development profile includes medical and post-surgical rehabilitation, ante- and post-natal care and the management of orthopaedic and rheumatological conditions. She has undertaken further post-graduate training in hydrotherapy, interdisciplinary care and sports taping. She is a member of the clinical interest groups for Occupational Health & Ergonomics as well as Sports and Exercise Medicine. Meghan enjoys working closely with Sports teams on weekends and is an avid sportsperson herself. She promotes a goal-orientated approach to rehabilitation which combines manual therapy, education regarding effective self-management and exercise therapy.
