Bone Health Classes
We commenced Bone Health Classes at Neasa Long Physiotherapy Clinic in November 2025. If you have recently been diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis, have ever suffered a fragility (osteoporotic) fracture, are peri- or post-menopausal or simply want to get pro-active about your bone health, these classes could be of benefit to you!
The objectives of our classes are to promote the optimisation of bone density through resisted and weight-bearing exercises, increase muscle mass, promote strength gain, improve dynamic balance to prevent falls, improve posture and flexibility and provide advice and information on osteoporosis prevention and management.

The classes include the following:
- Postural Exercises
- Strength Exercises
- Balance Exercises
- Flexibility Exercises
- Recommended Cardiovascular Exercises and Guidelines
- Safe Exercise Tips
- Exercises You Should Avoid
- Guidelines for Safe Daily Activities
Class Programme
The class programme is based on the latest research on the effects of exercise on bone health, and incorporates exercises that are proven to develop stronger bones and reduce fracture risk.
Exercises safely and specifically target the spine, hips and writs, the most common fracture sites, via direct (gravity forces) and indirect (muscle contraction forces) loading principles.
Each class lasts for 50 minutes. Over the course of six weeks an experienced Chartered Physiotherapist will help you to safely build up your strength, stamina, balance, flexibility, stability, and confidence.
